Are you an organized person?

Andrew Hiddleston, head of the sensational site on online marketing of today, LeanMeanMarketing.com, shares a seldom-to-be-found topic, the concept of the To-Don’t List.

In summary, a to-don’t list is a series of things that you won’t generally do in your business undertakings or professional life. It’s a number of specific things you should not, must not, or would not do in light of your principles in business or in your profession. Some personal aspirations may also be included as one of the considerations.

Hiddleston shares, “We all live and die by our "to do" list. Absolutely everybody has them and they're prioritized by whatever we need to be working on for that day. But almost just as important as a "to do" list is something that Ryan Lee had actually come up with, that is a "to don't" list, which is everything that you will not do. If your "to do" list is everything that you will do in your business to generate revenue, traffic, and income, your "to don't" list is everything you won't do to generate money, income, and traffic.”

He added, “Determine what those things are and list them out.”

There are many “probable” things you can include in your to-don’t list. Like Hiddleston, you can include putting in “don’t deal with abusive customers” item. The reason for this is obvious, these customers are tagged as “abusive” because they consume your resources more than any ordinary customer would.

Hiddleston elaborates this clearly saying, “If we have a customer who is repeatedly abusive, we will refund and essentially suspend that account so that we will not take further purchases from them. We will note that and the system that we have in place will prevent that credit card, PayPal account or email address from making a purchase in the future. That decision to not accept those customers was just a business decision wherein we weighed the revenue that it generated versus the hardship that it cost; and it wasn't just worth it.”

One should make a proper assessment whether or not something is being an asset or being a hard-headed liability in your firm. Otherwise, it will and would still be a stick in the throat of your business undertakings.

“What you need to do now is to assess your own business and your own principles. You need to create your own to don't list (see http://www.leanmeanmarketing.com/so-whats-on-your-to-dont...). Make a list, write it down, and put it right beside your "to do" list. Remember and make note of it, make sure it's present. If you need to update it, that's fine. What you can do as you go along is that you can keep adding to it, adding different parts for your business.”
