Lily’s Kitchen was started when founder Henrietta’s Border Terrier Lily began to refuse to eat the food that was given to her at meal times. After having initially dismissed Lily’s behaviour as her simply being fussy about her food, Henrietta decided to take a closer look at the food that she was giving her dogs and was shocked by what she found. The dog food that she had been feeding her beloved pets turned out not to be nice chunks of meat, but highly processed, mechanically recovered animal parts. So, with some encouragement from her vet brother Bob, Henrietta decided to make her own dog food from quality ingredients at home. Lily became healthier and happier as a result of eating the homemade meals and thus Lily’s Kitchen was born, to provide high quality, healthy meals for pets everywhere!
It took two years to get Lily’s Kitchen up and running. Henrietta enlisted the help of vets and nutritionists to help create new recipes for pets like Lily. This resulted in a range of wet dog food recipes, alongside dry dog food, dog treats and even bed time biscuits. There is also a range of wet cat food recipes for sensitive or fussy cats. All of the Lily’s Kitchen foods contain organic ingredients, real fruit and vegetables, real meat and botanical herbs.
