As an added feature this year, a 15-foot inflatable colon will be at the finish line for participates to run/walk through. Where else can you say you ran through a colon?
Both events will be timed with prizes for top finishers in all age categories. Registration fees start at $25 for race participants that register early, and increase to $35 on race day. All ages are welcome to participate, and participants will receive a tech shirt included with registration while supplies last. Those interested can register or learn more about the event by visiting http://community.acsevents.org/
Funds raised through registration fees and donations at the event benefit colorectal cancer research, programs/services, as well as prevention/early intervention efforts for colorectal cancer.
Colorectal cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death in men and women in the United States. In Michigan alone, more than 5,000 people are diagnosed with colorectal cancer each year.
Society-funded research has led to improved understanding of the link between diet and colon cancer, and the development of drugs to treat colon cancer. Thanks to improvements in prevention, early detection and treatment, more than a million people in the U.S. now count themselves as survivors.
