The Signature Room at the 95th Proudly Announces Its March Charity of the Month Beneficiary

March 5, 2013 - PRLog -- CHICAGO, Ill. – Each month, The Signature Room at the 95th® features one charity to receive 10 percent of sales generated from the Signature Monthly Dinner Menu served in the main dining room. Throughout the month of March, The Garden of The Phoenix Foundation will be the non-profit to benefit from The Signature Room’s year-long Charity of the Month program. Since the programs inception in 1993 by owners of The Signature Room®, Rick Roman and Nick Pyknis, more than 200 Chicago non-profit organizations have benefited with more than $1 million having been donated.

The Garden of The Phoenix Foundation is a non-profit organization that works with the Chicago Park District to ensure that the “The Garden of the Phoenix” is maintained as an extraordinary public space for all visitors to learn about Japan and experience Japanese culture. The Garden of the Phoenix is located in Jackson Park, Chicago, and has its origins in the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, when the United States and Japan dedicated the site on March 31, 1893 for the Phoenix Pavilion. Beginning in the Spring of 2013, over 120 cherry trees will be planted by the Chicago Park District and the Foundation to commemorate the 120th Anniversary of this site, and celebrate the peace and mutual respect enjoyed between these two nations. The Signature Monthly Dinner Menu throughout March will feature delicious options for every course in addition to a specialty cocktail, all of which are inspired by The Garden of The Phoenix Foundation. Kick back and enjoy the signature cocktail of March, a Cabin in the Snow, made with Yuki No Bosha sake, Purity vodka, blueberry purée and yuzu. Starters range from the choice of a delicious spring roll, made with shrimp, lobster and spicy Japanese sauce; miso soup prepared with tofu, scallions, nori and Napa cabbage; or a crab salad with seaweed, cucumber, calamari and a yuzu vinaigrette. Entrées include seared black cod with baby bok choy, Asian mushrooms, bamboo rice and ginger sauce or a grilled Wagyu hanger steak served with asparagus tempura and fresh wasabi butter. Dessert features a combination of Japanese bonbons; flavors include green tea, mango, and strawberry, topped with a candied ginger garnish and raspberry coulis.

Mission statements of all Charity of the Month non-profits are posted on the restaurant’s website along with full details regarding the application and review process. All beneficiaries are chosen during an annual application review.
