New Book #JerkAdvice Offers Sarcastic Self-Help for the Twitter-Age

Written by way of comedians test messaging submissions to a secret number, #JerkAdvice is full of off-beat, hilarious and just plain wrong nuggets of wisdom.

March 5, 2013 - PRLog -- New York -- Baddest Books Press (www.BaddestBooksPress) today announced the release of "#JerkAdvice", a collaborative work from 21 comedians and aspiring writers. "#JerkAdvice" is a satirical self-help book for the Twitter-age.

"#JerkAdvice" contains both nonsensical advice - "Contrary to popular belief, you should not steer into the skid. The world has enough bad drivers; no one will miss you," as well as twisted versions of widely quoted advice - "The best things in life are free, so don't worry about society's definition of shoplifting."

Contributors were asked to send in their nuggets of jerk wisdom by text message to a secret telephone number. After 3 months of collecting submissions, editors Alan Lidogoster and Shawn Wickens pieced together their favorites along with some that even made them uncomfortable.

"I used to think the best humor was angry-humor," states Shawn Wickens. "Over the years, I slowly evolved to understand you don't need to be sarcastic or antagonistic to get a laugh. Putting together '#JerkAdvice', I think, is shedding that last bit of angry comedian out of my system."

One Amazon reviewer called #JerkAdvice, "A quick and funny read... to self-help books what "Shaun of the Dead" is to zombie movies; it manages to be equal parts sincere and pure spoof."  "#JerkAdvice" is available at Amazon for the Kindle (ASIN: B00BELGZ94, $2.99).

Contributors include Chris Aurilio, Jarret Berenstein, Elly Berke, Jessica Delfino, Nate Foster, Jaqueline Fouasnon, Paul Gutkowski, Lucas Hazlett, David Chase Kimball-Stanley, Ying Ying Li, Alan Lidogoster, Mitch Lucas, Michael McFarland, Yang Miller, Anna Moore Silverstein, Christine Pineiro, Sean Robinson, Matt Smith, Ryan Weyls, Shawn Wickens and Matt Yeackel. Head editor, Shawn Wickens is the author of "How to Lose Your Virginity... (and how not to)", a collection of true, first-time stories he collected from over 1,000 interviews across North America.

Future plans include a paperback version and a second volume that includes contributions from readers. Instructions or contributing to Vol. 2 are included at the end of this first installment.
