Williams & Hand Attorneys Educate Greater Philadelphia Community on Pennsylvania Family Law Matters

March 5, 2013 - PRLog -- The Bucks County family law firm of Williams & Hand, P.C. believes in sharing its legal industry knowledge with its communities through continuing education and community leadership programs. Over the past several months, the law firm and its attorneys have participated in a variety of legal education events throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, discussing an assortment of family law and domestic relations matters.

Most recently, in February, Elizabeth J. Fineman participated in the Bucks County Bar Association’s Family Law Tax Law Updates program. As part of the continuing legal education (CLE) seminar, Fineman and her fellow presenters addressed updates to new tax laws and tax-related issues to which family lawyers should pay attention. Also, in early 2013, Williams & Hand Partner and former Falls Township Police Officer and Deputy Solicitor for the Pennsylvania State Police Kevin L. Hand served as a legal educator for the Pennsylvania State Police lecturing on the preparation and presentation of criminal cases in municipal court.

Before the close of 2012, family lawyer and Williams & Hand Partner Jessica A. Pritchard served as panelist of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) program “Your First Support Case.” The program covered a range of issues related to handling both spousal and child support cases including fortifying one’s practice with a complete case law and legislative update, understanding the calculations that determine support and learning the rules and procedures that govern a support proceeding.

Williams & Hand Founder and Managing Partner Jeffrey M. Williams co-presented a CLE course hosted by PBI in November and December 2012 in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., and Philadelphia. The program, “Family Law Practice in Bucks, Chester, Delaware & Montgomery Counties: The ‘Who, What, Where, When & Why’ of Family Practice in the Four County Area,” focused on what family law attorneys need to know when they practice across county lines. Williams represented Bucks County and provided a perspective on how the courts work, where to obtain information and how to work with key Bucks County family law court personnel.

Hillary J. Moonay, a Bucks County family lawyer and Of Counsel to Williams & Hand, served as a speaker for PBI’s “Slicing Up the Pie: Property Distribution in Pennsylvania” program. As part of the panel, Moonay addressed property distribution in Pennsylvania divorce cases and the steps of the equitable distribution process – from defining the marital estate to discovering and valuing assets through resolving the case through negotiation, master’s hearing or trial.
