Writer.ly, an online marketplace startup connecting writers with the professionals they need to successfully publish and market their books, announces best-selling author, and Silicon Valley venture capitalist Guy Kawasaki as new board advisor.
March 6, 2013 - PRLog -- SEATTLE –  Writer.ly (www.writer.ly), an online marketplace startup connecting writers with the professionals they need to successfully publish and market their books, today announced best-selling author, and Silicon Valley venture capitalist Guy Kawasaki as their new board advisor.

On Writer.ly, writers can sign up for a free account that allows them to build their own profile and post biddable job requests for a copy editor, book designer, ebook specialist, book marketer, et al. They can also find work on Writer.ly by bidding on the jobs that other writers post.

“Publishing isn't dead. It's just changing. And, as more authors self-publish their books, they will need to find editors, designers, and publicists. Writer.ly is a great solution for this need,” said Guy Kawasaki, advisor to Writer.ly and Silicon Valley venture capitalist.

Writer.ly will offer a free download of Kawasaki’s latest book, APE: Author, Publisher, Entrepreneur – How to Publish Your Book, for all new users who sign up between March 6 – 9, to try out the online marketplace for writers.

“We’re incredibly pleased and honored that Guy has taken an interest in Writer.ly. For any writer that wants to publish, there is a way. Those who are willing to improve their craft, put effort into promotion and get help where they need it are bound for success. Guy gets it. His Art of the Start is one of the books that I have read and re-read on my start-up journey. With his latest book, A.P.E., he’s applying all the entrepreneurial know-how to the publishing world. We couldn’t have dreamt up a more perfect guide for our mission to revolutionize the publishing world,” said Kelsye Nelson, CEO and co-founder of Writer.ly.

Writer.ly, currently in beta, made its debut in January, 2013. This Seattle-based startup formed as a result of founder Kelsye Nelson being accepted to, and attending The Founders Institute, which is an early-stage startup accelerator founded by Adeo Ressi. Abigail Carter, a best-selling author, joined soon after as co-founder.
