The only thing that’s constant is change; that’s why handling changes never fail to appear in project management.. (see more)

March 4, 2013 - PRLog -- La Harba, CA, February 1 /ProjectManager/ -- Changes happen in every single way possible, Project gets laid out like plan A, but situation B happens; that is why it is important that a Project Manager  becomes as flexible as possible for him to cope up with changes in his project.

The One Million Dollar Question would be “How does a real and successful Project Manager handle change? Change is seen even in the smallest situation in life. Nobody can alter that truth that changes are inevitable and a successful man shouldn’t stop but handle change.

On a 5 minute video presentation, Devin Deen, Content Director of Project Manager Ltd. said that the project manager’s entire team should help each other detect the changes in the project. “Any new team member that joins a project after it’s started certainly needs to go through an induction process where they’re reading all this documentation and becoming 100% familiar with what it is your projects are delivering. That way they can detect those potential scope changes for you and bring them back so that you can manage them effectively.” He said.

Another important matter to consider is defending the scope within the project. Whatever happens, the main target and deadline should be hit with accuracy. It is also good to do the extra mile but if it is really getting a way out of scope, a good project manager should know how to say no in the nicest way. One good example by Deen would be “Hey, Mr. Client or Mrs. Client, that sounds like a really good idea. Why don’t I get my project manager to give you a call tomorrow and discuss that further?”

Doing the out of scope requests can be done best only if the project was completed before the deadline. The most important thing to take note of is to never do the work without proper approval. Approval takes time and without this, everything that was modified in the project will be wasted.
