(WEST PALM BEACH-March 4, 2013) “Hilarious,”
Robert Dubac’s FREE RANGE THINKING makes its appearance at The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts for a limited engagement beginning April 4-7. Tickets are $32 each and are on sale now by phone at the Kravis Center Box Office 561-832-7469, online at www.kravis.org/
In FREE RANGE THINKING Dubac portrays, ROBERT, an everyman who has lost sight of the bigger picture. He’s been bombarded by so much information, white noise and hype and spin he can’t remember who he is or what he believes in. Does he have a purpose? Can he think for himself? Is the truth in the details or in the pudding? He hasn’t a clue. He racks his brain searching for answers. Instead he finds voices. Inner voices who pull him into an alternative universe of comic proportions in search for the bigger picture. It’s a head trip – on a banana peel.
First his VOICE OF REASON convinces him to think outside the box but not without a fight from his INNER IDIOT. Then his COMMON SENSE teaches him the lost art of critical thought so he can think for himself instead of relying on the Media. Next his INNER CHILD shows him how to use just enough innocence to question authority without getting spanked. Later his INNER ASSHOLE orders him to battle censorship with both four syllable and four letter words.
In the middle of all this he finds his SCRUPLES, who were last seen in the fifties, but then he bangs his head opening The Door of Truth and thus discovers the ultimate paradox; the truth hurts and is funny at the same time.
Before he wakes up from this metaphysical coma his VOICE OF REASON returns and solves partisan politics with an idea so absurd it borders on brilliance and his COMMON SENSE levies a Stupid Tax on bigotry while scolding religion for taking the “fun” out of fundamentalism.
In the end ROBERT finally wakes-up from the coma of every day modern day life by opening The Door of Truth wide enough to see the bigger picture.
Robert Dubac belongs to that rare breed of monologists;
If you like your satire served up with a clever intelligent edge; if you want to hear a voice that speaks as though it originated from inside of your own frustrated head; if you are tired of adolescent comedy generated by the mediocrity of television; don’t miss Robert Dubac’s FREE RANGE THINKING! It’s comedy on steroids. Think your funny bone can handle it?
