Brown Girls Burlesque (BGB) Presents She’s A-Shake-A-Ning!

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 4, 2013 - Brown Girls Burlesque presents the first BGB ALL-STARS Show:  She’s A-Shake-A-Ning!  The series begins at Philadelphia’s Underground Arts on Thursday March 21, then moves to The Black Cat in Washington, DC on Friday March 22, and ends up in the troupe’s homebase of New York City, Saturday March 23 at Joe’s Pub.


The Lovelies of BGB; Chicava HoneyChild, Essence Revealed, Miss AuroraBoobRealis, and jazabel jade welcome Miss Viva Las Vegas 2012,  Jeez Loueez aka the Powerhouse of the Midwest, Oakland’s La Chica Boom, Josephine Belle of Minneapolis’ Black Hearts Burlesque, Sophie Sucre of Philadelphia’s Peek-A-Boo Revue, and GiGi Holliday from Baltimore’s Gilded Lily Burlesque for the World Premiere of the BGB ALL-STARS Show. The aim of this new BGB ALL-STARS series is to round up burlesque performers of color from every corner of the country on one stage.  Joining them will be poet St. Scribbly LaCroix (as Philly host), comic Simone Shif (DC), and comic Robin Cloud (NYC).

Brown Girls Bur­lesque is a com­pany of women of color ded­i­cated to cre­at­ing their own reflec­tion in the art form of bur­lesque using whimsy and the the­atri­cal depth. BGB stands out in the crowded space of the neo-burlesque move­ment by cir­cum­vent­ing the clas­si­cal and new school inter­pre­ta­tions of bur­lesque by blend­ing cul­tural tra­di­tions, expe­ri­ences, and a dis­tinc­tive artis­tic aesthetic.
