Follow on Google News | Women's Group and Flagstaff Martial Arts School Raises Money for Anmal ShelterWater Mountain Martial Society (h2omt.com), a nationally recognized martial arts school in Flagstaff, AZ, hosted a kung fu fund raiser for a Women's Group. $120 dollars was raised for Second Chance Animal Shelter, and great fun was had by all.
I sat down to speak with both Master Mikel Steenrod and Sifu Mayleen Farrington about this fantastic event. HW, "Master Steenrod, why did you do this event?" MS, "I try to give back regularly to the Flagstaff community. My strong suite is martial arts and health for personal development. I have a great female instructor in the form of Sifu Mayleen Farrington. I also have a passion for the health and well-being of animals. Those added together to form a great opportunity to raise funds for animals." HW, "Did you seek out the group of women?" MS, "No, actually one of the women, Maggie Lewis, is a member of Water Mountain Martial Society. She raised the idea of an event both to myself and to her women's group. I was happy to do it. Typically, though, I only do such events as fundraisers, and so I selected Second Chance Animal Shelter." HW, "Now they have a $120 more to care for their animals. That's nice. Sifu Mayleen, what did you think about the event?" MF, "We had a great time, and I am so happy that I got to share this art with other women and help out the shelter, too." HW, "Do you plan on more these events, Master Mike?" MS, "I try to do several per year with both schools, and local groups. If one your readers would like to run a short term-fundraiser event, they should feel free to contact me. Email can be found at the website address www.h2omt.com ." End
