PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 2, 2013 - Louisville, KY.  Board certified orthopedic surgeon Dr. Stacie Grossfeld in partnership with Baptist Health Sports Medicine and Sports Performance Coordinator Nick Sarantis, MS, ATC, CSCS, is offering a special sports medicine seminar titled "Upper Extremity Injuries, Treatment and Strength Training in Tennis," on Saturday, March 16, 9 – 10:30 a.m. at 2400 Eastpoint Parkway in Louisville, Kentucky.

Louisville orthopedic  (see http://www.louisvillebones.com ) Dr. Stacie Grossfeld’s special tennis and sports medicine seminar focuses on injury prevention, injury prevention techniques, building core strength and tips for getting stronger as a tennis player.  Sports injury treatment related specifically to tennis players will also be discussed.  All attendees will be entered into a drawing to win a free 2-week Baptist Health Sports Medicine trial performance training membership (valued at $49).

Tennis players frequently experience a range of common sports injuries including rotator cuff tendinitis, tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis, bursitis in the shoulder and strains in the wrist, to name a few.  It is ideal to focus on tennis injury prevention to avoid being sidelined by tennis elbow, rotator cuff tear or some other sports injury.  

When it comes to sports injuries and sports medicine, Dr. Grossfeld has a lot of experience.  As a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Dr. Grossfeld completed her orthopedic residency at the University of Minnesota. In addition, Dr. Grossfeld completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the Fowler-Kennedy Sports Medicine Center.  She is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS).

In addition to her medical practice as an orthopedic surgeon and her specialty in sports medicine, Dr. Grossfeld is also an Assistant Clinical Professor for the Sports Medicine Fellowship Program at the University of Louisville and Instructor in the Department of Family Medicine and the Department of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.

Dr. Grossfeld is very qualified to give excellent information about tennis injuries and tennis injury prevention. As a tennis player, Dr. Grossfeld has been participating in United States Tennis Association (USTA) singles 4.0/4.5 since 2002. She has also qualified numerous times for the USTA 4.0 State Tennis Tournament.  In addition, Dr. Grossfeld is a member of the American Academy of Sports Medicine, the International STOP Sports Injuries Campaign and the Society of Medicine and Tennis.
