March 1, 2013 - PRLog -- The World Top 20 Education Poll was released today, by the New Jersey Minority Educational Development (NJMED) organization. The poll represents the education success level of 260 countries, from   early-childhood enrollment to college graduation rates.

The Top 20 Poll is the first ever to combine data resources from the world’s top research data banks- the  United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO); The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS); Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Progress in International Reading Study (PIRLS); and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECO) Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) study, and confirmed by each nation’s Department of Education, towards its accuracy.

The 2013 Poll has Japan ranked number one, followed by South Korea, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Russia in the top five. (The full poll can be viewed at http://www.usent.org/World_Top_20.html).

Albert Mitchell II, the Executive Director of NJ MED, commented that, he hopes the World Top 20 Education Poll will inspire countries to improve and invest more resources in their education system towards empowering their people. He said, “Since, the beginning of time, society has benefited through knowledge; in finding better ways to survive. History has proven a nation’s economy strives or fails based on the moral and ethical development of its people, which could only be achieved through a well structured education system.”

The Poll will also be updated every 90 days, to provide the most accurate information available. Mr. Mitchell added, “We want the poll to reflect what is happening now, therefore, giving each country an opportunity to show the world, their serious, in moving their nation forward in the new knowledge-base economy.”
