Gas Station Fueling Safety Breakthrough: Next Generation Magnetic Fueling Breakaway Device

Easy Reconnection after Gas Station Drive-Aways with Husky Corporation's New MagBreak®

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 1, 2013 - PACIFIC, MO – Husky Corporation, the leader in developing innovative American-made fuel nozzles, safe-t-breaks, and accessories, releases a breakthrough magnetic fueling breakaway device. The patent-pending MagBreak® solves a common industry problem by making it very easy to reconnect fuel hoses that separate following a customer drive-away.

Customers drive away with the nozzle still in the car fairly often. That is why hoses are designed to break in two sections when adequate pull force is applied, while dual check valves keep the fuel from leaking and creating a hazard. After a drive away occurs, and if there’s no damage to the dispenser, the fuel marketer wants to reattach the breakaway device and get back in operation as quickly as possible.

MagBreak® makes the process easier and faster than ever before. Husky Corporation engineers designed a patent-pending magnetic mechanism that essentially pulls the breakaway halves back together without effort. A twist-to-lock feature indicates when the assembly is locked and reconnected.

"That is the biggest feature of MagBreak®. We have received very positive feedback from attendants who have reconnected MagBreak®. It takes reconnecting separated fuel hoses to a new level,” said Rob Brown, Husky Corporation Engineering Manager.

The patent-pending magnetic design is the key allowing easy reconnection and makes the UL listed MagBreak® virtually maintenance-free. If there is ever a need to inspect MagBreak® the only tools needed are two straight blade screwdrivers. Husky’s MagBreak® is made with high-impact resistant polymer housing and weighs less than competing magnetic breakaway devices: ¾” MagBreak® weighs 1.21 pounds; 1” MagBreak® weighs 1.09 pounds. The smaller design reduces the possibility of dispenser damage and additional costly downtime.

“MagBreak® also has a low back pressure level which allows for freer-flowing product through the nozzle. And higher flow rates mean higher profits for our customers,” said Brian Wolff, Husky Corporation Project/Design Engineer.

The ¾” MagBreak® has a maximum rated pull force of 200 pounds and the ability to withstand high line-shock that can cause nuisance fuel line separations. As with all Husky products, MagBreak® is backed by a 12 month warranty against manufacturing defects.
