Discovering The True Power Of The American Accent

People often underestimate the importance of having a good accent when you speak in English. Find out how one person discovered The true power of the American Accent.

Feb. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- When you travel to the U.S. or to any other foreign country from your homeland in order to seek greener pastures, learning how to speak with an American Accent is often the least of your worries. After all, you came to the land of opportunities to partake of these so-called “opportunities” and find a good-paying job or even fulfill your dreams of living and working in one of the most powerful and arguably, the most progressive country in the world. At the very least, you probably expect to be much better off than your were back in your home country. The good news is that hundreds of foreigners all over the U.S. and Canada really are living the dream – but of course, there are some exceptions.

Unfortunately for a person whom we’ll refer to as “John Vincent,” he was one of these said “exceptions.” John Vincent was a foreigner who came from the Philippines. With a bachelor’s degree in Education and quite a few government sanctioned accreditations to his name, John Vincent was actually quite adequately paid as a University Professor in English and Political Science – by Philippine Standards that is. Of course, as you may be well-aware of, the Philippines is still a developing country and thus, professionals there are paid much lower salaries and wages on average than even a trainee or an entry-level white-color employee in the United States. This may in fact be true in your country of origin as well. For this reason, John Vincent applied for an American Visa and after about a year’s worth of negotiations with a third-party agency, John Vincent finally got his chance to travel to the U.S.

John Vincent found it very hard to find employment in the U.S. at first. He was deemed overqualified by many employers for entry-level jobs, but he couldn’t pass the job interviews for jobs that he was actually qualified for. The main reason for this is because John Vincent, although he had decent English skills, spoke English with a very distinctly foreign accent. John Vincent’s foreign accents often led to slow communication as well as communication errors, making prospective employers very reluctant to hire him. It seemed that John Vincent had hit a dead end on his journey into the United States – that is, until he discovered something that completely changed his life… John Vincent learned about the American Accent Course. http://www.AccentonSpeaking.com

Now you might think that this is a highly-exaggerated story, but nothing could be further from the truth. As John Vincent progressed through the American Accent Course, he discovered several hidden aspects of the English language that he had never even paid attention to before. He learned about how rhythm, intonation, and timing work hand-in-hand in the American Accent. He learned how to use his speech organ properly in order to produce the unique sounds of American English. He also learned how important it is to be able to listen to the “music” of English in order to be able to speak with an American Accent.

Of course, most importantly, at the end of the course, John Vincent learned what a difference it makes to be able to speak English with an American Accent as far as effective communication is concerned. Needless to say, that his newfound language skills gave him the competitive edge he needed to find success in the U.S.

John Vincent’s success story isn’t a one-time affair. Many other individuals have discovered just how much of a difference having an American Accent can make when you are living in the U.S.
