March 7, 2013 - PRLog -- ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. -- BEST Inc announces the release of new product that helps protect components during the reflow and PCB rework processes from heat-related damaged. This material is made from a high temperature resistant ceramic non-woven that has already been proven in aerospace, oil/gas and other processing industries to protect nearby areas from the damage which can be caused by excessive heat. Unlike other solutions in the PCB assembly and rework areas such as high temperature polyimide tapes or metal shields, this material provides for thermal insulation. Nearby components even during a heating cycle right next to a heat source are dropped from 30-80 degrees C. This non woven material can be cut down to size using scissors and be affixed components and surrounding areas using a high temperature tape. Unlike previous cast ceramic solutions there are no tooling costs and the product is configurable by the user.

Katy Radcliff, product manager for BEST explained , “This functional product should be in all PCB rework engineers and technician toolboxes. Heatshields can be configured by the user and protects nearby components from heat related damage from the PCB assembly and rework processes”.

BEST offers the heat shield material in 24 x 24 inch (610 x 610mm) sheets that are 1/8 inch (3.2mm) thick. The standard packaging is 2 sheets per package for $80.00 each. The items ship from stock out of Rolling Meadows IL and can be purchased directly from its www.soldertools.net web site.
