FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 4, 2013 - Washington D.C. is not known as a place that makes you want to dance.

Two D.C. natives are on a mission to change all that.

Together Remy White and Duke Walker are Homeschool Co-op, a progressive dance-pop duo drawing their creative inspiration from the very chaos of the city.

In the intensity of Washington D.C, Homeschool Co-op found a rhythm – and it made them dance.

Remy first developed his love of dance music as a child in the South of France. On summer evening’s towns would throw large parties in the town square. “It was colorful,” Remy remembers, “it was vibrant, it was high-contrast, and everyone was included.”

Remy White and Duke Walker’s creative partnership began eight months ago after Remy saw Duke perform at a folk concert. “Duke had the people mesmerized…and I thought, what if we could take that folk singer, a guy who is amazing at communicating energy and passion, and put that onto dance music?”

For Duke, Homeschool Co-op is the fulfillment of a long desired but unspoken wish. “Dance is a huge influence on how and why I make music… this project is years and years in the making - even though I never thought I would make a dance album, I have always wanted to.”

Remy composes the musical arrangements, constructing beats, rhthym, and sounds into music. Duke weaves melodies into the compositions, drawing up story-centric lyrics that transform Remy’s arrangements into absurdly catchy songs.

“D.C. is not a city that inspires musicians like New York, Paris, or London,” said Remy, “But there is a creative energy in this city, and it is intense – it is a driving force.”

Homeschool Co-op strives to makes music that harnesses that energy, and invites the entire city join in the fun. “We are all about getting people up, dancing, and having a good time,” their Kickstarter crowd funding page states.

“We wanted to create dance music that was simultaneously challenging and rewarding,” Remy says, “a beat that would slap you in the face while the melody gave you a hug.”

Music that is beautiful but aggressive: a perfect fit for the rhythms of Washington D.C.
