Arnet Technologies has developed an affordable, self-contained backup and disaster recovery (BDR) solution for small business servers. The ServerLIve standalone appliance resides at the client's site, and is connected to the local network and Internet. ServerLive initially replicates all data locally and to the Cloud, in a matter of hours. It will continue to maintain scheduled incremental imaged backups, protecting the client's critical data from loss. In case of disaster, the client will be able to completely recover their system within minutes.

Background

A loss of a company's computer network, critical files or desktops can put a serious dent in the bottom line. Data and downtime attributed to severe software/hardware failures, outages, theft or natural disasters can force small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) into insolvency.

Even more alarming:

93% of companies that lost their data for 10 days or more filed for bankruptcy within one year of a disaster; and 50% filed for bankruptcy immediately. (Source: National Archives & Records Administration, Washington D.C.)

To make it easy and affordable to back up and restore servers, critical data and even entire networks, Arnet developed ServerLIve. ServerLive arrives at the client's location as a self-contained device. All the user need do is connect it to the Internet, and call Arnet's ServerLive support.

A ServerLive technician remotely connects to the device, and the backup process begins. ServerLive makes a complete image of your server, and replicates it to Arnet's Class A datacenter (the Cloud). How rapidly this initial backup process occurs depends on the amount of data copied, and speed of connection.

(An optional transfer method, called "seeding", can be used to speed up this process.)

Once deployed and configured, ServerLive will automatically make "snapshots" of the server's state on a schedule of the client's choosing. Should a failure or outage occur, the data is immediately available on the local ServerLive on-site backup.

If there's a catastrophic event at the business site itself, the data is still safe, securely encrypted, and available from the Cloud. Users can restore via the Internet or physical storage to new, even dissimilar, hardware.

Advanced recovery functions even allow for the local ServerLive device to function as a "hot spare", and the virtualized server to spin up as a "hot site".
