The average price of homes for sale was $252,486, which was down from $252,895 in December. However, the median price of homes for sale - the number at which half of the homes listed for sale were for more and half were for less - increased 2.13% to $250,710.
"The beginning of the 2013 saw an increase in buyer activity while the inventory of homes for sale in Omaha remains low relative to recent history. Record low interest rates makes this an ideal time for buyers," said Troy Trumm from the Trumm Team at Keller Williams who released the study. "Sellers would be wise to get their homes on the market before spring time when there will be increased competition as the number of homes rises as is the seasonal trend."
The prices varied according to the size of the homes
- 2 bedroom - $178,561 - a decrease of 1.43% from December
- 3 bedroom - $210,041 - a decrease of 2.37% from December
- 4 bedroom - $279,216 - a decrease of 0.15% from December
- 5 bedroom - $319,639 - an increase of 1.62% from December
The average home for sale has 3 bedrooms and 2.91 bathrooms.
