The procedure is extremely safe, bloodless, painless and highly effective. The laser fiber (1/2 of one millimeter) is placed under the skin into the fat pads under the eye whereby the laser energy safely and effectively melts away the fat. Subsequently, the laser energy is then used to tighten the skin under the eyes. This tightening is an immediate effect; however, it is not the end of the story… After approximately 6 weeks your body will begin to form a significant amount of new collagen which not only further tightens your skin but, greatly decreases the dark discoloration many times associated with this condition.
Following the procedure the patients may drive themselves home but are encouraged to use ice packs for ten minutes every hour for the next 6-8 hours. Most patients do experience bruising however it is typically minimal and resolves within 7 days.
