“Thoroughbred Crossing has been a labor of love for our firm for well over a year now. We are excited that the renovation is complete and we are excited to welcome our new residents to the community and their new homes,” said Brandon Denton, co-founder of Denton-Floyd Real Estate Group.
The $2.73 million dollar renovation is the firm’s first foray into the Lexington Apartment market, and is a fine example of the scope of future projects in the area. Thoroughbred Crossing, formerly Cardinal Crossing, was purchased in 2012. The120 unit complex, consisting of four primary buildings, was in need of extensive rehabilitation and care. Complete renovations have included updated water and electrical systems, updated heating and cooling systems, new appliances, new carpet and flooring, new cabinets and countertops, fresh paint, new windows, new sliding glass doors, new blinds, and freshly painted decks. Community updates include newly paved parking areas, new exterior paint, new community fencing, new laundry facilities in each building, a new leasing office, and new lush landscaping.
Over 50 of the units have already been leased, “Everyone that visits our model is elated at the transformation that this community has undergone. We have received only positive feedback from the residents and the community. This is an area that has seen hard times in recent years, and Thoroughbred Crossing is a fresh start in bringing this area back to being a fantastic place to call home,” says Property Manager Yarelis Rios.
One of the community’s biggest supporters has been Lexington City Councilwoman, Peggy S. Henson. Henson has said that one of her greatest concerns for the area has been the lack of safe, adequate, affordable housing. Watching the renovation of Thoroughbred Crossing since the beginning of the renovation project has “helped ease [her] concerns,” she said.
Thoroughbred Crossing Apartments are all two-bedroom, one-bathroom homes, and measure at least 954 square feet.
