Follow on Google News | San Antonio Has New, Local Art MagazineCity's New, Modern Mag Will Boost Exposure for SA's Art Community
By: Bark PR This March marks the debut of ART Magazine, a print space that gives insight into the San Antonio art world with features on local artists, exhibitions, interviews, art reviews and informed commentary – all in a brilliantly crafted magazine. Founded by UTSA alum, Haydeé Muñoz De la Rocha, the magazine's mission is to promote awareness of the dynamic local art community in San Antonio and beyond. "There is something in the experience of having a beautiful, high quality paper magazine in front of you to read and there is so much more to art than what we see; we want to explore that," says Muñoz De la Rocha. "Our readers can expect to read about the local and regional art scene, but we want to connect that to the whole and talk about how it fits within the international scope." The premiere issue features cover art by Kate Terrell and includes writings on Artpace's Amada Cruz, The Lullwood Group, Luminaria, SAMOMA, The Art Embargo and a special section on Contemporary Art Month. In addition to its editorial platform, ART Magazine has local initiatives such as Marketing Fund, which helps raise money for arts organization's marketing campaigns, and the Writer's Circle. The latter, a program to increase the number of art writers in the San Antonio area that can help expand the city's art scene by collaborating with national and international publications. ART Magazine is published on a quarterly basis and is available through subscription only at http://www.ArtMagazineSA.com. All proceeds go directly back into the cost of creating San Antonio's first art publication, to increase local exposure on a regional and worldwide level.
