Feb. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- OTTAWA, ONTARIO -  Seven year old Anjali Sumerta of Ottawa is the inaugural recipient of the Canadian Community Support Foundation’s prestigious Community Inspiration Award. The award recognizes children under 10 years of age that show exceptional community spirit that motivates and inspires others.

Anjali is the daughter of local artisans Julie & Nyoman Sumerta of Artefina Jewelry/Sumerta Designs. This young girl showed amazing entrepreneurial spirit when she designed and sold her very own line of Christmas Tree ornaments, and shared part of the proceeds with her favourite charity Roger's House.

Roger's House is a local ottawa organization dedicated to supporting children with life limiting illnesses and their families. Roger’s House graciously set up a special cheque presentation ceremony for Anjali’s seventy dollar donation. Shortly after the ceremony, a proud picture of Anjali holding the big cheque began to circulate on Facebook and it caught the attention of Daniela Siggia, Executive Director of the Canadian Community Support Foundation.

"Kids like Anjali are our future, and are our best hope for a better tomorrow,” said Siggia. “It’s important to reward this kind of community spirit, and we want to encourage her to continue and hopefully inspire other kids to get involved as well.”

The Canadian Community Support Foundation will be awarding Anjali a certificate and t-shirt, and the foundation will also give her a $100 gift card to Michael’s so she can continue her great work. Anjali is also being invited to present a $4000 donation to Roger's House on behalf of the Canadian Community Support Foundation.

The cheque presentation ceremony will take place on Friday, March 1st at 10:30 a.m. at Roger’s House, 399 Smyth Road, Ottawa.

Canadian Community Support Foundation provides a safety net for those at risk of falling through the cracks. In addition to their own efforts to feed and clothe Canadians in need, they provide assistance to existing charities already doing wonderful work, such as The United Way.
