Back to black: truffles at The Chedi Muscat

Feb. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- February 2013:  Dubbed the ‘diamonds of the kitchen’ by French gastronome Brillat-Savarin, truffles are one of nature’s most expensive foods.

For one week only The Chedi Muscat will be serving the highly prized Périgord black truffle from February 23rd to Thursday 28th at The Beach Restaurant.

The menu, which will include truffle eggs en cocotte, Scottish divers scallop Carpaccio with truffle slices and aged parmesan as well as pan-fried salmon with a truffle risotto and duck breast Rossini style and truffle mashed potato, will be paired with specially selected wines chosen to complement the dishes.

“When you prepare dishes with truffles you have to be mindful that you don’t overpower the taste of the truffles with strong flavours,” commented executive chef Sebastien Cassagnol. ”Therefore we have chosen a selection of dishes that will showcase these delicate ingredients at their very best.”

The special truffle menu is priced at OMR 55 per person for a 3-course menu or from OMR 13 for individual dishes from the a-la-carte option.

The Beach Restaurant is perfectly located along the resort’s 370 metre private beach overlooking the Gulf of Oman offering diners the option to sit outside on the expansive waterfront patio or enjoy the views from the high ceilinged, contemporary dining room.
