Feb. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- MORGAN CONFIDENT OF STAYING UNBEATEN

Canning Town boxing star, Billy Morgan is working hard to extend his unbeaten run to eight wins out of eight.

The next challenge for the talented lightweight comes in the form of experienced pro Gavin Reid on Thursday 21st March at the historic York Hall in Bethnal Green and Morgan has intensified his training routine to prepare for the test.
“The training has just really stepped up a lot harder to be honest; more strength work, more sparring, more road running and so on.”

Opponent Gavin Reid has three times the experience as a pro and recently lost out on the International Masters Title to undefeated Southpaw, Peter Cope despite knocking him down in the ninth round.

When questioned about Reid, Morgan said “He’s strong and has good stamina. I’m sparring six rounds now and I’ve still got four weeks to go until the fight and I’m ready now and raring to go.”

Of his 23 professional contests, Reid has been in the ring with 14 unbeaten prospects, over half of the opponents faced. Morgan will be the 15th unbeaten pro to face Reid since his career began in June 2007.

His career started well with 6 wins out of the first 9 contests and being the first to stop John Donnelly.

The standard of opponents have been world class and it was almost three years ago that Reid challenged Carl Frampton for the then vacant BBBofC Celtic Super Bantamweight Title.

Morgan, 22 years old trained by Mark and Jimmy Tibbs at the TKO Gym in Canning Town is not leaving anything to chance with preparations.

“No stone left unturned, no muscle left out from the burn. 100% all day every day. I’m hoping that my first KO will come on that night, but will be happy with a points victory also. I want people to stand up and take notice.”

There are still tickets available for the fight and it promises to be a great show. To follow the unbeaten prospect on Twitter click the following link https://twitter.com/MorganBilly

Big-hitters Billy Joe Saunders and Matthew Hall will headline the show on Thursday 21st March at the York Hall, Bethnal Green, with Saunders’ British and Commonwealth Middleweight titles on the line, live and exclusive on BoxNation, (Sky Ch. 437, Virgin Ch. 546).

Chief support on the card aside from the Morgan V Reid fight sees Penge welterweight Bradley Skeete make the first defence of his Southern Area title against Basingstoke’s Darryl Still.  Skeete won the title in December when he stopped South London rival Chas Symonds in four rounds at the ExCeL London.

Tony Conquest’s rematch with WBO International Cruiserweight Champion Neil Dawson, which was due to take place at Wembley Arena on Saturday 16th March, will now take place on this show.  Conquest suffered a shock first round loss to big-hitting Dawson in December at the ExCeL and will be out for revenge.

Also featuring on the undercard is some of Britain’s best young fighters including Cheshunt’s undefeated super-flyweight prospect Charlie Hoy; middleweight Tom Baker from Chingford and super-middleweight John Dignum from Bowers Gifford.

Finally, amateur star Simon Vallily from Middlesborough makes his professional debut in a four round cruiserweight contest.  Vallily won heavyweight gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and in the previous year he captured the ABA Super-Heavyweight title.

Tickets priced at £40 and £60 are available from Frank Warren Promotions Box Office on 01992 550 888.
