5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous illustrations and beautiful message :-), August 30, 2012
Love this picture book! The illustrations are stunning and very peaceful and evocative. The story is beautiful and gives a great message about persevering with your dreams. One of my favourites of the series so far, this is an uplifting read with a happy story and positive outlook. Really brilliant. :-) Would be wonderful if these books were also available for the PC and not just mobile devices. :-) This was a promotional free download and I am happy to write a great review as I really enjoyed it. Thank you :-)

Love this little tree frog's determination - and success - at completing his plan! Great illustrations and an important message that doesn't overshadow the telling of a good story. As a nature-lover, I also enjoyed learning about all the other critters that live in the swamp. As a teacher, I appreciated the discussion questions provided at the end of the book.
Easy-to-read on my tablet, once I discovered how to tap through the enlarged text boxes.

This book was beautifully illustrated and told by the animals’ point of view. The kids will love it. Jackson is a determined tree frog set on getting in on the pictures being taken.

LEARNING TO PERSEVERE
Visit the Okefenokee for a lesson in pursuing goals.
The Okefenokee Swamp is home to water lilies and alligators, cinnamon ferns and coachwhip snakes, swamp iris and purple gallinules. It is also home to a green treefrog named Jackson, who has learned that a new brochure is being prepared to draw tourists to the famed wildlife refuge and all its beautiful and beastly inhabitants.
Jackson is determined that the diminutive treefrogs will not be left out, and he has a plan.
Author Linda Talley's story tells a comic tale of perseverance in the face of obstacles. It takes Jackson on a madcap photo shoot that is also a tour of the three habitats of Okefenokee-the swampy woods, the piney woods, and the sun-drenched marshlands-all captured by artist Andra Chase in glowing watercolor illustrations.
Not all problems have easy or speedy solutions. The persistent Jackson demonstrates for young people the rewards of making a plan and sticking with it.
A SURPRISE and added bonus is the "Enrichment Information"
A second big plus is the "Letter to Parents and Educators" which includes many relevant questions and comments to facilitate conversation with young readers about the message of the story...the value of perseverance. So even though on the surface this is just an engaging story for children, it is also truly helpful in a real way.
