IRS To Accept 2012 Returns Claiming Education Credits by Mid-February 2013

Taxpayers using the Education credit tax form 8863 can now file their returns as the IRS has made all necessary updates to its processing system.

PRLog - Feb. 26, 2013 - After testing its processing systems, the IRS on the 28th of January, 2013 announced that it needed more time to make programming modifications to its systems in order to accurately process the education credits tax form 8863. A later date in mid February was then proposed. Filers claiming other education related tax benefits like the tuition fees deduction and the student loan interest deduction were not affected by this shift in date and were able to file their returns as soon as tax season opened on the 30th of January.

Finally, the wait is over for filers using the education credit tax form 8863, as the tax house is now satisfied with its system and is now accepting and processing returns from them. The tax form 8863 is used to claim two higher education credits which are the American Opportunity Tax Credit and the Lifetime Learning Credit. Filers who are otherwise able to file but use the form 8863 can now file their returns online at http://www.easyincometaxfilingonline.com/ now.
