Lincoln Scheme Benefits from PE Piping

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 26, 2013 - The AMP5 scheme, delivered by the joint venture between Galliford Try and Imtech, is being undertaken to ensure security of supply for Lincoln and the surrounding areas as the local population continues to grow. The new 250 megalitre raw water reservoir has been designed to store water supplies equivalent to the volume of one hundred Olympic swimming pools with the raw water being transported to the reservoir via a new pumping station and underground pipelines.

The reservoir has been built on a site near Newton-on-Trent, and will store water taken from the River Trent.  The water treatment works has constructed on the opposite side of the A1133 and the higher ground level of the reservoir in relation to the treatment facility will allow Anglian Water to move the water into the works by gravity, while protecting the new infrastructure from any flooding in the area.  GPS pipe has been used for the 2km raw water main that runs from the intake pumping station to the reservoir, the raw water gravity feed pipe linking the reservoir to the water treatment works and the raw water reservoir bypass main from the pumping station to the treatment works.

The pipework has been completed in December 2012 with project completion expected in summer 2014.
