Sporty 2014 Mazda CX-5 Crossover To Be Released Later This Year, Cox Mazda Announces

Bradenton, FL dealership prepares customers for the refined crossover utility vehicle, which features Mazda’s highly acclaimed SkyActiv technology.

Feb. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- The Mazda CX-5 (http://www.coxmazda.com/models/2014-mazda-cx-5), a newly revised small crossover SUV, is expected to hit the Cox Mazda showroom in Bradenton, Florida sometime later this year. While the CX-5 only debuted in 2013, and has been widely critically acclaimed, it will receive some minor improvements. The new crossover will get a new larger SkyActiv engine that provides a boost in horsepower while maintaining the stellar miles per gallon rating from the EPA that made the CX-5 one of the top choices in its class.

The original powertrain will carry on in the base model. This 2.0L DOHC direct-injection aluminum four-cylinder produces 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque, while achieving an EPA mileage rating near the top of its class with 31 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in the city with all-wheel-drive.

The new optional powertrain will be a similar but larger 2.5L four-cylinder that will crank out 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. This high-tech engine gets a 13:1 compression ratio but is still capable of running off regular unleaded. The new engine, which is shared with the Mazda 6 sedan (http://www.coxmazda.com/models/2014-mazda6), will be available in the top two trim levels (the Touring and Grand Touring models) and will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Remarkably, CX-5 models with the new larger powertrain will yield nearly identical fuel economy to the smaller engine: 32 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in the city with front-wheel-drive and 30 mpg on the highway and 24 mpg in the city with all-wheel-drive.

In addition to a new engine option, the 2014 CX-5 will also be available with a few more innovative features. The most notable change will be the Smart City Brake Support System. This sophisticated preventative safety system can detect obstacles with lasers and apply the brakes automatically to prevent collisions at speeds of up to 19 mph, and at least reduce damage at higher speeds.

Interest drivers are encouraged to visit Cox Mazda (http://www.coxmazda.com/directions-hours) at 3101 West Cortez Road in Bradenton to find out more about the new CX-5 or any other of the latest vehicles from Mazda.
