Stanford Coachworks Master a Fast Turnaround for Age UK

The fast turnaround of the silver, 11-seater wheelchair accessible minibus, complete with the Age UK Doncaster livery, is a long wheelbase, high roof van.

The minibus specification included bonded panoramic style windows with one top sliding opener, Renault side door egress and a manually operated side step fitted below the aperture to allow ease of access.

High visibility, textured handrails are fitted to each side of the entrance and an M2 tested alloy plank floor, fully overlaid with non-slip vinyl.

Eberspacher D2 heating, in dashboard air conditioning, reversing sensors and CD player complete the interior for comfort and simplicity.

The conversion included all detachable rear seats to allow for the additional carriage of up to 3 wheelchairs passengers, accessible at the rear by a two button control, Braun inboard tail lift. The 11 single seats included incontinence Ambla upholstery, grab handle head restraints and all age seat belts.

The cab area storage compartment allows for folded wheelchairs.

The minibus conforms to UK IVA legislation, Schedule 6/7 of the

C & U regulations’ and health & safety guidelines, particularly with wheelchair ramps, handrails, access steps and hydraulic ramp stops. The vehicle was up-rated to 3800kg GVW to comply with current regulations to ensure adequate carrying capacity.

This combination of the latest technological developments with accessibility and safety delivers a comfortable ride for people with limited mobility and provides a vital link to essential services.
