Feb. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Some of the year’s best days are in September and October, and the garden can be lovely then too.  In this slide presentation Mary Ann McGourty will look at life beyond potted chrysanthemums and show you how to maximize your autumn display.
For twenty years Mary Ann McGourty has lectured extensively throughout the U.S. and is a former director of the Perennial Plant Association.  Mary Ann was the major contributor and editor of Taylor’s Guide to Ground Covers and has served as horticultural consultant for several book publishers, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  She was awarded a Gold Medal by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society and is an honorary Member-at-Large of the Garden Club of America.  Mary Ann and her late husband, Fred, were the owners of Hillside Gardens, a nursery in Norfolk, Connecticut that specialized in uncommon perennials and perennial garden design.  Together they appeared on PBS television’s Victory Garden and HGTV’s Great Gardeners series.  Mary Ann and Fred McGourty are the joint recipients of the Bronze Medal, the highest honor of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut and the Gustav Mehlquist Award of the Connecticut Horticultural Society.
