Now in its 32nd year, “The Nationals” pays tribute to superior performance in sales, marketing, and community design. The judges honored Willowsford, a 4,000-acre community outside of Washington, D.C. , (2,000 acres of which have been conserved for environmental preservation, recreation and agricultural use), for its innovative concept and successful marketing campaign.

Willowsford has drawn strong sales since opening in October 2011, and is expanding its home collections to be responsive to changing demographics and customer preferences. Builders are required to design homes specifically for Willowsford, following architectural guidelines that provide distinctive streetscapes and higher quality materials including durable siding products as opposed to vinyl and aluminum. New home collections are currently being offered by Arcadia Communities, Beazer, Camberley, Integrity, K. Hovnanian and Van Metre Homes.
In addition, the community has spectacular amenity infrastructure that has been built upfront and is inspired by the region’s farming heritage—stone pillars, four-board fencing, a 200-acre farm (Willowsford Farm) growing products for the community, a lake complete with boat house, parks, more than 40 miles of trails, pools and community centers that are underway and include a list of amenities such as demonstration kitchens for cooking classes and community events, fitness center, and more.
