Say Happy Birthday to a Very Special Lady
Say Happy Birthday to a Very Special Lady
Feb. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- It's time once again to honor the national treasure we have in Doris Day and to wish her a special Happy Birthday on her day, April 3, 2013.  You can be a part of this.

Doris Day  was the major female recording star of the 1950's ( when combining singles, albums, jukebox  and air play  and sheet music sales).  No one has broken her record as the Top Female Box Office Star of All Time. The Grammys set the record straight with a Lifetime Achievement Award a few years ago.  The LAFCA (Los Angeles Film Critics Association) gave her an honorary award as did the Golden Globes in 1989 with a special Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime acting achievement.  The Society of Singers presented her with their LEGENDS AWARD, and even the Office of the U.S. President honored her with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.  This award is the highest civil award, given to recognize achievement in public service. She was cited not only for her contribution to the world of entertainment but for her ongoing dedication to the welfare of animals. (She helms three organizations in that respect: The Doris Day Animal Foundation, The Doris Day Animal League and the Doris Day Horse Rescue and Adoption Center.)

One day, The Oscars and the Kennedy Center Honors will get their omissions corrected; too bad, thus far, it is not while Doris could still appreciate it, despite petitions and calls from respected people all over the world, as well as special facebook pages devoted to this effort.

Songsandmemories.com (formerly sampod4u.com) is offering fans and friends of Doris an opportunity once again to wish Doris a special Happy Birthday. Compose your message, keep it concise. Then call our toll free number (866-405-1904) and record your message. All messages will be posted on the website in time for Doris' birthday on April 3. There will be a special page on the website titled "Guess What, Doris...It's Here Again!", the third year in a row that the site will honor Doris with a special page on her big day. That special page will be opened by the end of March and will remain open throughout Doris' birthday month.  In addition, the website team hopes to send Doris a cd containing all the messages. (New visitors to the website will find many pages in the sidebar menu devoted to this legendary performer, and rightly so.)  Those fans and friends too nervous to record a message can leave a written message on the website by using the contact form and address.

Some of the recorded messages will also be aired on Mike's Radio Show (see website navigation menu for details), along with much of Doris Day's Music that day.

So give Doris a big hello on her day and tell her how much she has meant to the worlds of music, movies, television and animal activism.
