They manufacture a selection of curtain lining solutions, including a collection of flame retardant fabrics, decorative blackout curtains and fashionable prints for both the home and contract markets. The TEMPO collection is a range of woven, high specification, contemporary fabrics, which incorporates contemporary design elements, such as classical, geometric, floral and organic designs. Entrepreneurial textile merchant, Edmund Bell, established the company to which he gave his name in 1855, leaving the family business to his two sons when he died in 1890. The 1930’s saw Edmund Bell & Company grow its product range to capitalise on the demand for blackout curtains. Before long the business had shifted its focus to become a specialist supplier of curtain linings, blackout and dimout fabrics. Over the years Edmund Bell has worked closely with manufacturers and finishers to develop cutting edge processes to enable the production of quality products. In 2005 Edmund Bell proudly celebrated its 150th anniversary by joining the elite group of companies to be awarded the UK’s most coveted business accolade – the Queens Award for Enterprise: International Trade. In 2008 the company was acquired by the Atherton family, who have invested heavily in the facilities and innovations.
