Port Douglas Continues To Excite Conference and Incentive Market

The conference and incentive market continues to be excited by the depth of product available in Port Douglas and Daintree.

 
PRLog - Feb. 24, 2013 - Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree executive officer Doug Ryan said operators had seen an increase in enquires as companies looked for inspiring new products to reward and incentivise employees.

He said products in demand included the Mossman Gorge Centre, which opened in June last year. The centre, which was built at a cost of $20m, offers a unique Indigenous cultural experience and is considered a must do for delegates.

“Where else can you experience the pristine Daintree World Heritage Rainforest, all the while getting lost in the dreamtime legends of the local KuKu Yalanji community on one of their special guided walks?”

Mr Ryan said QT’s $6m makeover was also proving a hit for this market, particularly now that work has been completed on its new conference facilities.

“The investment made through QT, Mossman Gorge and now Flames of the Forest has seen a lot more enquiry and we will see an increased number of delegates in 2014/2015.”

Flames of the Forest sales manager for business, events and leisure, Natalie Johnson said upgrades to the pristine rainforest venue marked its 10th anniversary celebrations.

“It is our 10th birthday this year so we have made some really stunning changes to celebrate.

“There is a new decorative lighting design throughout the venue as well as a bud light cathedral walkway.

“On top of all this, our executive chef has created some sensational new menus for both our leisure and corporate markets – food for the soul.”

Ms Johnson, who also chairs Port Douglas Incentives, described the Port Douglas and Daintree region as a “dream when it comes to creating spectacular off-site events”.

“The stunning, natural beauty of this region has always attracted the conference and incentive market. Taking people out of their everyday lives into such beauty and relaxation is often inspiring – something that conferences look to achieve – and helps their delegates reach their full potential.”

Other products, which are also proving popular for team building exercises include Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas and Botanical Ark, a private botanical garden with more than 3000 species of plants.
