You could also check the garage door chain or belt, garage door balance, oil the tracks, sheaves, rollers and hinges or opener remote control batteries. These are easy steps to take but doing so will prolong the life of your garage door without costing you a fortune,” Iqbal added.

He cautioned homeowners not to ignore their garage doors, saying that doing so will cost them dearly over time.

“Homeowners who do not pay attention to what their garage doors are doing or saying to them will find out over time that it is very expensive to ignore their garage doors. Imagine opening your garage door and hearing a loud clanging noise. Most homeowners hear this every day and just ignore them. It means that something is not right with your door but if you are not paying attention, you will miss it,” Iqbal said.
