The National Drowning Prevention Alliance has partnered up with K38 Water Safety and will be providing a Basic introductory course for Rescue Water Craft Operations to lifesavers.
The Lead instructor will be Shawn Alladio, who will also be providing a water rescue demonstration along with the USCG from Air Station Miami located in Florida.
The Rescue Water Craft training and demonstration will be held at the 2013 NDPA Symposium in Ft. Lauderdale at waterfront of the Bahia Mar Doubletree host hotel.
This 8 Hour classroom course is designed for the professional development of Rescue Water Craft (RWC) basics for occupational use. Rescue Water Craft are small powered boats known in the recreational sector as Personal Watercraft (PWC). Students will enhance their operational capability with a standard 3-tier platform that explains a methodical layered approach to technical operations.
This course focuses on educational standards for technical boat handling skills necessary for safe patrol and rescue operations with methods derived from real world expertise. These standards will assist agency personnel in maintaining safe boating practices while underway and enhance their operational knowledge of Rescue Water Craft.
Students will be issued a certificate of professional development and will receive digital information for RWC maintenance, rescue board applications, training standards and video clips for review and use. A written exam will be conducted. Certificate is valid for a period of three years. This is an intensive 8 hour program.

The NDPA Annual Drowning Prevention Symposium is being held Wednesday March 13th, to Friday March 15th, 2013 at the Bahia Mar Doubletree Ft. Lauderdale. The Rescue Water Craft Basic Operation Course is a Post Symposium training program open to water rescue professionals.
