Frequently Asked Questions about Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a permanent procedure that not only improves the look of your nose on your face but can improve your mood, and self confidence too.

PRLog - Feb. 23, 2013 - MUMBAI, India -- Getting a nose job is a big decision for anyone. There are many factors, advantages and disadvantages to getting a nose job that should be considered before any decisions are made. Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about rhinoplasty.

Can I get exactly the nose I want?

Yes and no. When you consult with your doctor, you will find a shape and size of the nose that suit your face. You can bring in pictures to your pre-surgical consultation with your doctor, who can use them as a guideline for building your new nose the same way a hairdresser does on your hair.

What does the procedure entail?

The procedure itself is fairly short, usually between one and three hours, and you can expect to go home that afternoon if everything went well - even though they will put you under using general anesthesia. Your doctor will rebuild your nose through an incision inside your nose itself to prevent visible scarring.

What is the recovery time like?

Recovery times are fairly short - though you will probably want to be sequestered for the duration of the recovery period. For the first week, your nose will be protected with a splint. After your post-operative exam about 10 days later your doctor will allow you to remove the split and may also remove any sutures if he used non-dissolvable stitches.

From there you can expect bruising and swelling on and around your nose for the next six weeks. You won’t be able to see the results of the doctor’s work until after those six weeks are complete so don’t get too worried if you’re not beautiful right away.

How much does rhinoplasty cost?

In most instances, rhinoplasty is an elective cosmetic procedure and is usually not covered by insurance.  Rhinoplasty will vary in price depending on the doctor and where you live, but you can probably expect your procedure to cost upwards of five thousand dollars.

For patients undergoing this surgery to fix the size of their nasal passages, their insurance company may pay part of the surgery, but be forewarned that your insurance will only cover the parts of surgery deemed medically necessary.

How long does rhinoplasty last?

Rhinoplasty
is a permanent procedure that not only improves the look of your nose on your face but can improve your mood, and self confidence too. Having good self esteem is an important factor in personal success, either in your career or your personal life.
