Feb. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- The owner/operators of Bayou City Bicycle Park in La Marque, Texas are pleased to announce their Grand Opening, scheduled for the weekend of March 9th & 10th 2013, coinciding with the first weekend of Spring Break. A full weekend of USA BMX racing and BMX freestyle action is assured with some of the top names in BMX attending, including prolific X Games, Dew Tour & Red Bull Tour Gold Medalist, Ryan Nyquist. Also making a return to Bayou City Bicycle Park is the King BMX Stunt Show, from Greenville, NC. Sponsors for the weekend extravaganza are Haro Bicycles, BELL Helmets, Webster Bicycle, Lansdowne-Moody Equipment Co. and Graphics-R-Us with logistical support by Republic Limousines. Lodging and dining packages with deep discounts to attendees are available at area hotels and restaurants.

The weekend of BMX action kicks off with a USA BMX Single Points event at Houston's Beltway 8 BMX Friday evening. Saturday morning at Bayou City BMX, a VIP breakfast will be held with Ryan Nyquist & Friends at 9:00 am, followed by USA BMX Race For Life Double Points Registration, with action-packed BMX racing beginning at 12:00 pm. Ryan will perform his aerial BMX freestyle routine before, during and after the BMX race qualifying sessions and main events and will spend time interacting with what is expected to be a large and enthusiastic crowd. After the USA BMX Race For Life Double Points main event and Trophy Presentation, a contingent of Ryan’s friends and supporters will meet for a Dinner With Ryan Nyquist at Flamingo Steak & Seafood, Galveston Island’s newest waterfront fine-dining restaurant. With support and sponsorship by Haro and BELL, Ryan will be spending the day with his fans, taking pictures and signing autographs. Limited Editions caps, T-shirts and posters will be available to have autographed. In addition, numerous BMX racing and freestyle legends will be in attendance at Bayou City in what promises to be the biggest freestyle gathering and one of the largest BMX race events in Houston Metro BMX history. USA BMX Double Points racing action continues on Sunday, March 10th, with Bayou City BMX’s Texas State Championship Qualifier, with racing action beginning at 12pm. This promises to be an exciting race event with riders from all over the State of Texas coming to Bayou City in an effort to qualify for the 2013 Texas State Championship Race. The final round of the Strider Challenge and Team Trophy Challenge will take place on Sunday at Bayou City BMX with special trophies and awards for all racers and teams. “We are extremely pleased with the outpouring of support we are receiving from all across the country and beyond for our bicycle park,” said Track Operator Don Youdan. “With additional support from sponsors like Webster Bicycle, Haro, BELL Helmets and others, including many area local bike retailers and businesses, we continue to grow and should have all our park components and infrastructure in place by June 1st,” stated Youdan. The park will include the USA BMX Sanctioned BMX track, a freestyle arena sponsored by Haro, BELL and Webster Bicycle and a Strider No Pedal Balance Bike track for kids ages 2 – 5. Bayou City BMX has held several successful USA BMX single points races, an Open House and a freestyle show put on by Freestyle Legend Keith King and the King BMX Stunt Show, who make their second appearance in the Houston area at the park since December’s show, all in support of Bayou City Bicycle Parks programs. Bayou City Bicycle Park is located at 1931 Main Street (FM 519) in La Marque, Texas. The park can readily be seen from Interstate 45 South, making it one of the most visible BMX tracks and bicycle parks in the USA.

With the Harris County–Houston Sports Authority’s bid to host the 2014 through 2016 X Games, the attendance of X Games legends such as Ryan Nyquist, Keith King, Scott Wirch and others, timing could not be better. Houston has long been a BMX hotbed in Texas and with the level of support increasing exponentially over the past few months, the Houston Metro area BMX scene is regarded by many as the hottest in the USA today.

The events are open to the public for general viewing. Spaces for vendors are still available for a nominal fee.  For more information, please visit Bayou City Bicycle Park’s website or, right-click the ‘like’ button on Bayou City BMX’s Facebook page to get up to date information on this event and for hours of park operation.
