Mugshots.us.org To Sort Mug Shots By Type Of Crime

Feb. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Mugshots.us.org is changing the way they release mug shots to their customers in order to sort them by the type of charges filed, company officials said yesterday.

“We understand that people search our mug shot records to find out if the people in their lives have ever been arrested,” a company representative said. “But that only tells part of the story. There is a very big difference between being arrested for having a party get out of hand and getting locked up for felony assault. We want to make that distinction.”

Under the new system, the reports will not only show the mug shot and the date and place of arrest, but also list the charges filed in descending order of severity, the company said.

“When you can actually easily see what the most serious charges were, you'll have a better idea of who you are dealing with,” the representative said. “It's possible for good people to get arrested for very minor things, and we don't want to imply that everyone who has a mug shot is a hardened criminal.”

The reports will also make a distinction between people who are simply arrested and those who are actually convicted, the company said.

“Just because you were charged with a crime and your mug shot was taken doesn't mean you are a criminal,” the representative said. “Charges get dropped all the time, and we want people to understand that an arrest is very different from a criminal conviction.”
