Graduate Theological Foundation faculty member Gibbons named Heythrop Visiting Fellow

Graduate Theological Foundation faculty member Dr. Robin Gibbons was recently appointed as a Visiting Research Fellow to the Centre for Eastern Christianity at Heythrop College of the University of London.

Feb. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Graduate Theological Foundation (http://www.gtfeducation.org/) faculty member Dr. Robin Gibbons was recently appointed as a Visiting Research Fellow to the Centre for Eastern Christianity at Heythrop College (http://www.heythrop.ac.uk/) of the University of London.

The Heythrop fellowship program is intended for established academics who wish to undertake intensive research in a subject area relevant to the College.

A longtime member (http://www.gtfeducation.org/faculty-staff/Gibbons.cfm) of the GTF faculty, Gibbons serves as Fellow, Dean of Studies of Foundation House/Oxford, and Alexander Schmemann Professor of Eastern Christianity. A member of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Oxford, he serves as Pastoral Director of the Oxford Theology Summer School and the Director of the Department for Continuing Education’s flagship OUSSA Summer School. Gibbons is also the Department’s Director of Studies for Theology and Religion and a Departmental Lecturer.

Gibbons additionally serves as Assistant Pastor for the Greek Catholic Melkite Church in London and Great Britain, and is one of the Ecumenical Partners in the Benefice of Steeple Aston, North Aston and Tackley in the Anglican Diocese of Oxford. In May 2012, he was installed as the International Ecumenical Canon of All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral in Edmonton, Canada.

Professed as a Benedictine Monk in 1973 and an ordained priest since 1979, Gibbons is the author of numerous scholarly books and articles, including a major work on Christian space, “House of God: House of the People of God” (SPCK 2006). He was Editor for Harper Collins’ extensive revision of The Sunday Missal 2011 and the Weekday Missal 2012.
