Feb. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- The late tax law legislation by the US congress compelled the IRS to announce a shift in date in the commencement of the 2013 tax season as it needed to make changes to its processing systems in order to accommodate the new tax laws. While a vast majority of taxpayers including those that were affected by the late Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) and those claiming the state and local sales tax deduction, higher education tuition and fees deduction and educator expenses deduction were able to file their returns as soon as the tax season kicked off on the 30th of January. Other taxpayers needing to file some more complex forms had to wait till February or March to file their returns as the tax house needed more time to perform more extensive programming and testing on its systems.

1040 filers that need to file the Depreciation and Amortization tax form 4562 and the Education credits form 8863 can now file online at http://harborfi.typepad.com/tax/turbotax-online-free-delu.html as the IRS on February 10, 2013 and February 14, 2013 started the processing of the two forms respectively.
