Beginning in March and April the adult ticks from the past year emerge and become a major nuisance. Treatments during these months are high because of the visibility of the ticks. In May and June the larger ticks die off, but the small nymph ticks are now emerging. These are much more dangerous because they are able to attach to pets, children, or adults without being noticed. This is especially dangerous because of the different diseases ticks can transmit which include: Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and Tularemia. Since these smaller ticks are so hard to spot they are sometimes attached to a host for at least 24 hours before being noticed. The problem is that by this time the tick has had plenty of time to release the disease into its host.
Alchemy Pest Control is the only company in Raleigh, NC that will treat your entire yard with a granule treatment. Most companies will come and spray the yard, but the truth about the spray is that it dries on the top of the grass and is quickly broken down by the sun. Alchemy's granule treatment is different in that the granules are spread throughout the yard and instead of only treating the top of the grass is able to get deep in the thatch of the grass. This is a better treatment for many reasons. First, the ticks are living and reproducing in the thatch so this treatment gets to all of the ticks, not just the ones that happen to come up on the top of the grass. Secondly, this treatment is more protected from the sun so it will last longer than
spraying the top of the grass. Lastly, since the treatment is so deep in the thatch pets, children, and adults playing in the yard are not getting the chemicals all over them. To learn more about Alchemy's yard treatments visit http://alchemypestcontrol.com/
In order to protect pets, children, and adults Alchemy suggests that yards be treated many times a year. By treating your yard in early March you will eliminate much of the adult population that was left over from the year before. The next treatment should come in May to make sure that any nymph ticks that hatch out are taken care of. The last treatment would then come in July to take care of any other ticks that are left. Alchemy encourages these three treatments to make sure that the tick population in your yard is controlled.
