The DORE Centre is home to the DORE Programme, a personalised exercise programme for people with dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD. The DORE Programme has been successfully completed by more than 30,000 individuals, most of them children. One enthusiastic mum recently contacted DORE to report on her daughter’s progress: “Within 9 months of starting DORE, Katie’s reading age in English had gone up 18 months and she finished primary school with a reading age in Welsh of 12 years 4 months, one of the best in her year”.
DORE will be joined by Louise Scrivener, an Independent Speech and Language Therapist based in Kenilworth. Louise is keen to help parents understand more about speech and language difficulties, such as word access and comprehension difficulties. Louise will discuss how these difficulties can manifest themselves and how they can be masked. She will also explain what Speech and Language Therapy involves and give examples of cases she has worked on.
Therapists from Integrated Therapy Solutions, an integrated therapy package provider, based in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, will also be at the DORE Centre to speak to parents about children’s therapy services, specialist clinics and training programmes. Therapists presenting will be Lucy Wheeler, who will be discussing Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. Natalie Morris will discuss training programmes, Speech & Language Therapy and Music Therapy. Zoe Connor will talk about the group’s Feeding Clinic and provide further information on Nutrition and Dietetics.
A representative from the South Warwickshire Dyslexia Association will also attend the event to let parents know more details about workshops held at Stratford College on Saturday mornings, where children with dyslexia are able to receive extra lessons in reading, writing, spelling and maths.
The day will start at 9.30am with coffee and registration. The therapists will then give their talks, with refreshments and time for questions afterwards. Parents will then be able to speak to therapists one-on-one and enjoy a tour of the DORE Centre.
The event is free and everyone is welcome! In order to pre-register, call DORE on 0333 123 0100 or visit the website: www.dore.co.uk (http://www.dore.co.uk/
