Tear gas is used to extract a person, suspect or individual out of a building or confined space. Teargas is used in hostage situations or police stand-offs where a suspect or individual has resisted coming out of a structure. Teargas is used as a non-violent means to a peaceful end in subduing an individual who has resisted being taken-in to custody or to seek help.
Teargas causes skin irritations and breaking and problems in people subjected to it. Teargas will make your skin red, irritable, itch, and utter discomfort. Teargas will make your eyes and nose water and make a person so irritable as to seek an outdoor environment as soon as possible. Tear gas makes it very difficult to breathe and makes you cough, and gag until you find “good air” forcing the individual out of confined spaces, buildings, and other structures.
Teargas causes lots of damage to a property after it has been used in a police standoff or other swat style extraction process. Teargas is very difficult to clean and remove under normal cleaning methods. Self- cleaning of teargas residues is not recommended due to the hazards involved without previous teargas training and specialty protective equipment. Teargas cleaning and removal technicians require the use of a full-face respirator to protect the eyes and mouth and nose from tear gas contamination. The use of wearing full body protective gear, body suits, coveralls, gloves, booties are needed to protect exposed skin from teargas as the moisture in your body will attract the teargas to your skin and irritate you badly. Working with a respirator on and protective gear is difficult to do and only trained teargas technicians should perform this work.
Teargas residue removal from a residence or structure can be done following a proven process that Bio Scene Clean Up has developed over time, by performing numerous teargas cleanups. Contaminated teargas residues on porous items must be discarded such as; carpet/padding, clothes, wood furniture, and other absorbent surfaces. Once teargas contaminated possessions have been removed the property structure can be decontaminated with a mixture of cleaning agents specifically designed to breakdown teargas contaminants. If teargas contamination is extreme the drywall and other building components will need to be removed and discarded, such as wood subfloors, cabinets, counters, baseboards, etc.
