The 7" plush toys were created to raise awareness for the adoptability of the stray, abandoned or otherwise homeless pitbull, and are sold with a postcard from the real-life dog. The seven featured pitbulls include Jeffrey, a former stray from New York who now works as a therapy dog with a Newtown, Connecticut classroom and a library reading program, and Ruko, a search-and-rescue dog.

The first release of the "Bruised Not Broken" edition of Pocket Pitties is available for purchase online, and in select retail outlets:
Founded in 2011 by sports photographer Suzy Allman, CharlieDog and Friends has created the world's first plush dogs and cats inspired by real-life animal rescue and shelter pets, and has raised thousands of dollars for local rescue organizations and shelters, while donating toys to hospitals, humane education, therapy dog work and nursing homes.
