This year's Oscar nominations saw particularly fine news for the James Bond franchise, which celebrated its 50th year in 2012. The hugely successful “Skyfall” scored five nominations, which almost single-handedly equaled the seven nominations received by the first 22 films in the series combined. It's the first time a Bond film has received an Academy Award nomination in over 30 years. Nominations for “Skyfall” include Best Score, Original Song, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and Cinematography. To date, Skyfall has racked in $ 1.1 Billion worldwide and James Bond 007 has an excellent chance to take home an award, with Original Song and Cinematography its strongest bets (even though cinematographer Roger Deakins was snubbed nine previous times).
