A free and low-cost spay/neuter and education event for Chihuahuas in Sonoma County Sunday, February 24th Compassion without Borders, a 501-C3 non-profit animal welfare organization will be partnering with Sonoma County Animal Care{SCAAC} and Control and Forgotten Felines to host our first “”Chihuahuapalooza” Chihuahuas now make up over 50% of all dogs in many shelters in Californian and have become the most common breed in shelters alongside Pitbulls. This has resulted in a “Chihuahua Crisis” in California wherein the small breed dog is being euthanized at alarming rates due to irresponsible breeding and overpopulation. Compassion wihtout Borders is spearheading the event with collaboration from SCAAC and Forgotten Felines. Compassion without Borders holds free monthly clinics for low-income Latino families and also has a Chihuahua rescue program wherein we airlift 20 Chihuahuas from overcrowded shelters in California to a premier shelter in Minneapolis where the breed is in demand and there are not nearly as many. The event will be hosted at Forgotten Felines in Santa Rosa from 8-4, with two mobile surgery units and over 30 volunteers.
