Brighton Publishing signs Jackie Ullerich for her fourth novel, “Sabbatical in the Sun”

For the youthful and beautiful Jessica Slater, the time has come for a break from her Northern Virginia educator position. What she need is a sabbatical, and the perfect place for her is the golden California sands.

Recently divorced and reeling from her mother’s loss to cancer, Jessica assumes a housesitting position at the home of George and Lydia Papas, out-of-country owners of a successful import-export business.

A sabbatical is exactly what one makes of it, and for Jessica, graduate courses at USC soon become a welcome distraction to her otherwise sorrow-filled life.

In time, Jessica meets the enigmatic and alluring John Martin, a university administrator who deceives Jessica with his romantic gestures in order to gain access to the Papas home.

Soon, feeling her infatuation with John continue to grow, Jessica accepts his offer to travel to Athens, Greece for spring break. While there, Jessica is introduced to John’s friend, Denis Angelides and his family.

Unfortunately, Jessica realizes that she has become the lynchpin in a plot that goes far deeper than she can fathom. The game is afoot as Jessica is used in a scheme to recover a priceless heirloom of the Angelides family—an heirloom that has found its way into the Papas home. Betrayals run deep and the painful aftermath may be more than any of them can bear.
