Optimed Pharmacy Opens New Location In Downtown Kalamazoo’s Corporation Hall

Feb. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- (February 20, 2013; Kalamazoo, Mich.): OptiMed Pharmacy will expand its pharmaceutical, clinical and retail services as a key tenant of the newly rehabilitated Corporation Hall at 154 S. Kalamazoo on the downtown mall.

“We were asked, and we’re excited to bring long-absent retail and pharmacy services to the downtown community. Not only that, but our clinical services will be the most comprehensive in the state,” says OptiMed founder and director of pharmacy, Andrew Reeves.

Customers expecting a typical pharmacy will be pleasantly surprised by OptiMed’s holistic and personalized care, backed by state-of-the-art resources. The space makes it easy to meet with certified aestheticians, browse pharmaceutical grade cosmetics, investigate natural supplements and other preventative measures – and above all, consult with the skilled pharmacists. “We hope more people take advantage of the fact that pharmacists are among the most accessible health care providers,” says Reeves.

Additional conveniences include walk-in vaccinations and a rapid diagnostic clinic that includes tests for the flu, strep throat, HIV and Hepatitis C. The pharmacy will offer free delivery and parking validation for Central City-run spaces.

OptiMed Pharmacy is an expansion of the OptiMed Pharmacy (formerly KCMS Pharmacy) located inside the WMU School of Medicine Clinic at 1000 Oakland Drive. Reeves assures current patients that the Oakland location will retain all services, and in fact benefit from new efficiencies. A lower-level space at Corporation Hall will serve as the pharmacy’s phone center and specialty medication distribution center that will help meet increased demand throughout the state of Michigan.

The building, Corporation Hall, is owned and rehabilitated by Catalyst Development Co., LLC. The owners have designed the building to the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED-Gold standards and are seeking LEED certification. As an internationally recognized mark of excellence, LEED provides a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.

Sustainable features of Corporation Hall include a geothermal heat pump, solar thermal domestic hot water preheating, a vegetative roof, natural day lighting, energy efficient lighting and appliances, an energy dashboard for all tenants, and the use of reclaimed and repurposed materials from the original 1867 structure as well as other recycled materials. Only environmentally responsible cleaning and paper products will be used during operation and maintenance of the building.
